Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church Statement on Marriage and Human Sexuality

We believe that following the way of Jesus includes embracing the historic Christian understanding of sexuality as taught in Scripture: that sexual intimacy is reserved for the covenant of marriage between one biological man and one biological woman. This commitment includes abstaining from sexual relationships outside of marriage, rejecting pornography, and avoiding behaviors that compromise our Christian witness, while pursuing holiness through God's grace.

At the same time, we are committed to welcoming and loving all people with the compassion, justice, and dignity of Christ. We reject all forms of hatred, abuse, discrimination, and victimization. Recognizing that all forms of sexual sin—whether heterosexual or homosexual—fall short of God's design, we extend the same call to repentance, grace, and restoration to every person, trusting in the transforming power of the gospel.
